About
PRIDEinUtah is dedicated to the progressive, liberal ideals that have made the USA the great country that it is. Too often, especially in Utah, the conservative voice becomes the only voice – rather than to let honest debate rule our thoughts and our hearts with reason.

"Eric, trying to have this (civil rights) conversation with you is ultimately like trying to teach a pig to dance, it just annoys the pig. So Eric, sorry to annoy you."

I’m looking for information about Todd Ransoms funeral. Any information would be great. Thank you.
I am not so sorry that you are wrong and packer is right.
Man was made for woman and woman was made for man.
Homosexuality is not part of the human condition. It is a mental condition. It is not natural.
I understand that some are committing suicide but that is not Packers fault. That is the fault of society. Be it parents friends or even the church. Those who are committing suicide have been lead to believe that is there only option.
Packer did not teach them this. The church, choose anyone, teaches us that suicide itself is a sin.
Start looking at yourselves as the problem and the solution and stop poiting fingers at others…especially those who have the guts to speak the truth.
I have read about the story on yahoo news about and one pastor who talked about the immoral behaviors of gay and lesbians and his message lead you to strike, may i know the God you serve you people.
In the bible God created adam and eve male and female so why are you changing the order of God? Have you ever read in the bible how God destroyed sodom and gomorrah because of the same behaviors?
I will be great to read from.
Below is a copy of the letter sent to Mr Obama, in condemnation of, and encouraging action against, the repulsive behaviour of homophobic Australopicenes who would drag the dignity of the United States of America into the mire.
In this, the Third Millennium of Western history, their despicable display of bigotry plays into the hands of America’s detractors, destroying in a few hours the work of their forefathers who, for centuries have worked and campaigned to make it the world’ leading Democracy and demoting it to last, sharing its ranking former Soviet Nations.
The campaign is now on Facebook, Twtter and spreading, gathering momentum.

Mr President,
Re: Zach Harrington’s suicide in Norman OK, USA.
The international LGBTQI Community is appalled at yet another American gay teenager’s desperate, final act, hounded by a community infected by a hatred comparable only to the most ferocious Islamic fundamentalism.
Today LGBT people in the US face the same venom, the same violence and vehemence from their detractors that daily kills progressive, moderate and secularists in Afghanistan or Iran.
Each Civic administration that, like Norman OK, allows its City to defile the American Constitution and Your Nation’s claim to be ‘The Land of the Free’, where all Men are Equal, damages the Country’s International standing and its credibility as a leader in Democracy.
A global campaign is gathering momentum amongst the LGBTQI campaigners and communities, that may well grow into a blanket boycott of the US.
I sincerely hope, Mr President, that there may be a way that Your Office can mandate all Administrations with the Duty to conduct a simple test of their public debates, their policies and practice: substitute the word ‘Jewish’, ‘African American’and ‘Latin American’ to the word ‘Gay’ and ‘Lesbian”, to check whether what they say, decide and do is discriminatory.
Many thanks for your kind attention Mr President.
Yours Faithfully.

Really people? I pretty sure in that great book of yours it also states to respect one another. Nobody is asking anyone to become gay!
Tom, this is what you believe and there is no need to force your views on others. Being gay is not a mental condition. The APA ruled that homosexuality was not a mental illness in 1973. I have linked to the APA site for their current take on homosexuality. http://www.apa.org/pubinfo/answers.html
Frank, the bible also states:
In Matthew 21:21:
I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.
If “you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer”, then if we ask to cure cancer tonight, cancer should dissappear. Right? I don’t think so Frank……
Listen I didn’t come on this site to insult anyone. But we should all respect one another. Too many people judge and last time I checked god didn’t make as perfect.
sending you love and support from the UK. keep going!
Thanks Boo!
For those of you using Leviticus 18:22 for your Excuse for being mean to the LGBTQ community read the rest of leviticus. Leviticus was a freaking NUTJOB! Leviticus 19:19
instructs Christians not to wear clothing with mixed fibers, have two different kinds of livestock in the same pasture and not to plant mixed seeds in a field! So let’s compare the mixed fibers one to how people treat homosexuals today. From now on if I see somoeone with a mixed fiber tee-shirt I’m going to start beating them up and calling them a disgrace! How would you feel if all you had were Mixed fiber shirts and you couldn’t buy anymore so everyone picked on you all the time? That is how a many in the LGBTQ community feels when you say hurtful things, beat them up, or say No to Gay rights.
Why would you post on here that Josh Wilkerson was gay? The news articles didn’t even say that he was, the mexican kid just claimed he hit on him. You can’t even wait to see what really happened to him and why. You just assume that everyone has something against gays. Thanks for starting the “he was gay” comments about him, I am sure that is what his family wants to see when they type his name into the internet.
@Courtney: You have a great point. Minor detail here, Leviticus isn’t the name of a person, so you can’t really call it a nutjob. It was actually written by Moses and comprises a large part of what is called the law of Moses. When Christ came he stated that the law (of Moses) was fulfilled, and hence your argument is correct in that we shouldn’t cling to anything from the first 5 books of the Bible since it’s obsolete now.
In reply to Tom and others like him:
Compassion, kindness, understanding, empathy – those most Christlike of attributes – were never attached to blame or fault by the Savior. When healing people, he never asked who was at fault before offering them kindness and compassion. Your lack of compassion for those whose pain is so great that they have committed or contemplated suicide shows that you’re more interesting in judging than in being like the Savior. Your need to enter a forum specifically offering such compassion to people in that position and antagonize them typifies the opposite of Christlike behavior.
People don’t choose to be gay. There are many who only realize this after having spent many years trying to change it, only to realize it’s not changing. No one ever says that straight people choose to be straight for the same reason – it’s just how it is. It’s easy to judge or to make assumptions when you have never been in those shoes. But unless you have, you really have no idea at all what’s involved, nor what it means to be both gay and a man or woman of faith.
