UT GOP Intimidated By New Dem Chairman – Send Camera Man To Follow Him

UPDATE:  PRIDEinUtah’s story has been confirmed by the SL Tribune. The cameraman is indeed an operative for the UT Republican Party. http://bit.ly/o81lLV

Utah – The new chairman of the Utah State Democratic Party has the Republicans Party on edge. With so much infighting among the GOP these days.. the last thing they wanted was a dynamic and media savvy opponent. Solution? Send a camera man after him hoping he screws up.

Dabakis took off yesterday morning for a “Red Rock Tour,” of Southern Utah.. hitting several counties and cities to talk about redistricting and the need to stop the Republicans from combining rural and urban counties in Congressional Districts.

Republican Senate President Michael Waddoups took to the papers immediately. Saying in the Salt Lake Tribune that he was “fine” with Dabakis traveling the state, as long as he didn’t try to talk about Democratic issues.

…..  Can we just pause for a moment there? Arrogance…. hypocrisy …….. dementia???

Dabakis exposed the Republicans’ true goals a few weeks ago when he got two leading GOP Party Members to admit that they wanted to strip away people’s medicare, social security and public education…. and now the Republicans are desperately grasping for anything they can try to strike back with.

I received a call from a member of the media team for the Red Rock Tour, letting us know that apparently the Republicans have now hired a young cameraman to follow Dabakis around to every event across the state, filming him in the hopes that Dabakis will slip up and say something they can use. Their very own “Macaca.”

There’s a broader point here though. For the first time in decades… the momentum and favor is on the side of the Democrats. The average and everyday Utahn is disgusted by the Tea Party, who have swung so far into the realm of the radical and extreme that they’ve lost sight of things that truly matter… like compassion, service and care for their fellow human beings. It seems that the Democratic Big-Tent is the new place to be.

  1. David Nelson says:

Aren’t both political parties (and their camp followers) guilty of this? For every Andrew Breitbart, there’s a Markos Moulitsas Zúniga. For every Matt Drudge, there’s an Ariana Huffington. Lou Dobbs? Keith Olberman. G. Gordon Liddy? Maurice Schwenkler (Google him). James O’Keefe? Cenk Kadir Uygur. Interparty spying and intimidation is older than the parties themselves (See Washington and Jefferson on “factions”). So, Jim Dabakis gets his face on more cameras. The sky hasn’t fallen. He’s quite used to the tactic, especially since he got his start at KUTV Television doing the same thing. Let’s not mention Jim’s long and lucrative career at KTKK Radio. His gossip-mongering about Republicans would make what Waddoups and the GOPers pale by comparison.
